Hand-cut Window Tint – Why we do not use templates

We heard the question before, why do you use hand-cut window tint? The answer is quite simple. We always strive to achieve the most coverage and since we work with many different vehicles, experience tells us that templates just don’t cut it (no pun intended). Template cut film is always the same size. It doesn’t matter if you have a Dodge Ram, Mercedes C-63 or a Tesla Model S. Most likely not every part of the vehicle is exactly like another even within the same make and model. Therefore a template that might fit one the driver side will show light on the passenger side. There also might be other factors that a template will not cover as well as a hand cut piece of tint. Just look at the examples below.

Besides the obvious risk of edges showing, now a days windows are pretty curvy compared to back in the day. This means every film has to be heated to follow the curvy shape of the glass. This can make the film turn out too short too if it is a pre-cut template.

Professionally hand-cut Window Tint makes the difference

I hear you already say, but this can happen with hand-cut window tint as well. And you are probably right, but we assume here that only trained, professional installers are hand cutting film. Our staff has years of experience working with all kinds of vehicles and all types of films. He knows what he is capable of and so do we. That’s why you want to get your tint done at a place that stands behind their work and offers a quality install for all their services.

If you buy into a film without warranties and pay $70 for the full vehicle or maybe even less, you might as well prepare yourself for the following. Bubbles, color change and/or fading and most likely bad customer service. Without manufacturer warranties on film and the cheap install cost, it is not very likely that a shop can stay afloat redoing work for free, even if it was their wrong doing.

Improper cutting action can also look pretty fatal. That’s why it is always recommended to go to a professional shop to get it properly installed. Experience is definitely one of the most important factors when it comes to that topic. Before we provide some bits of our work, let me show you what you definitely want to avoid.

And because it says the good always comes last, here are some of the windows we installed with our hand-cut window tint.
