Hot summers and window tint – What you need to know

Hot summers and window tint

Today we will teach you why hot summers and window tint are in direct correlation to each other, especially in Houston. You might be still stuck on the belief that tint has to be dark to work well. The darker, the better. In an age of hi-tech solutions to almost everything, window tint has also evolved. From dark films that bubble and fade to a high heat and UV rejecting protective shield.

Hot summers and window tint

You probably often wonder why there is such a broad range of prices when you deal with window tint. First it all depends on the product being used to tint your windows. If it is a basic tint without any manufacturer warranties, special technologies or heat rejection, most likely it will be pretty cheap. Cheaper products usually are very thin and therefore easier to install which allows for a shorter installation time. This will allow the installer to give a lower price. And last but not least it depends on the specific installer and the clientele they deal with on a regular basis and quality of work provided. A while back I saw an interactive image of the image below that automatically outsourced the “third” option. You can only pick two.

While keeping this in mind the best way to pick the right tint is to always choose one with a manufacturer warranty. Especially if you live in a city like Houston with 10 month summers. Heat will often bubble and fade cheap tint, a warranty that cover this helps big time.

The best tint we could find

We always search for new innovative products to offer our clients the best available for their cars. Years back, when clients were more focused on the darkness and price of window tint, we offered one of these films already. It took some time and a bunch of heat demonstrations to pave the way for high quality heat rejecting window tints to become mainstream. But here we are in 2018 offering the two best films you will find available in the industry. Our films are thicker and come with warranties that cover bubbling and fading due to heat. The thickness makes them more difficult to install on curved glass which means it will take more time and work to install it on your vehicle. It is well worth the wait to say the least.

CeraLuxe

Prestige Film Technologies has designated over 2 years into developing CeraLuxe Quantum Ceramic Window Film. Created with their advanced technologies this film can produce significant heat rejection. CeraLuxe utilizes quantum science to integrate their proprietary Nano-IR technology to work with pure-ceramic substrates. This achieves high visible light transmission and high solar radiation rejection.

It rejects up to 70% of solar heat and 99.5% UV.

Spectra PhotoSync

Utilizing the latest in their Solar Adaptive Coating, this nano technology window film adjusts its solar energy rejecting properties based on solar intensity. This coating will adjust itself once certain wavelengths of the solar spectrum are exposed to the film. This will trigger an immediate adjustment of the film’s heat rejecting properties to synchronize with solar intensity. This transitional effect increases Total Solar Energy Rejection up to 78% while retaining an impressively light and clear shade.

The solar spectrum consists of 3 main properties: Ultraviolet, Visible light, and Infrared Rays (IR). IR accounts for 53% of the spectrum, so PhotoSync’s high 98.5% IR rejection rate serves as a constant measure of product performance.  This film also provides a 99.5% UV rejection.
