Why Touchless Tire Mounting is a thing
Let’s be honest, if you do not care about your wheels, it probably does not matter where you take them to get them mounted, but if you are like me and get a heart attack for every scratch you see on your wheels, touchless tire mounting is the only way to get your tires put on. And let’s just say you don’t just flip over scratched stock wheels and actually put a nice amount of $$ out to get aftermarket wheels, especially the custom forged kind, you will want to make sure that no metal will touch these wheels.
What does touchless tire mounting mean?
There is really no way to mount a tire onto wheel without touching it, but this expression means that no metal part will touch the wheel itself. Only plastic components of the machine will touch the wheels and will not scratch, ding, or dent them. Lower-profile tires have extremely stiff sidewalls, which are much harder to install. Therefore increasing the risk for tire and wheel damage. The machines also incorporate uniquely shaped components that ensure the tire doesn’t sustain damage and it is perfectly seated on the wheel.
Who will benefit from touchless tire mounting?
To anyone! Since it does not only protect your wheels but also your new tires, anyone that doesn’t like to throw money out the window can benefit. Of course, if you have a specific wheel setup, you will benefit even more. If you can circle at least one of the points below, you should get your tires mounted with us:
• floating spokes
• reverse mount required
• stiff tires
• low tire profile
• expensive/unique hard to get wheels
If you drive a performance vehicle, you probably marked at least one of these. But this is not the only reason why you should come to us. Besides being capable of working with expensive aftermarket wheels, we also provide a Road Force Balance.
Road Force Balance
Most shops already use machines that performs a dynamic balance of the wheels. To understand what that means I will quickly explain the difference between static and dynamic balance.
Unless you have a motorcycle or a vintage car with slim wheels, a static balance should NOT be considered. As you see above on the left, on a static balance wheel weight will only be installed on the center of the wheel barrel. Static imbalance on a wheel that is rotating will cause the wheel to spin elliptically. This causes the wheel to bounce up and down. The dynamic imbalance is when you have a heavy spot that is off centre to the midline when viewing from above.
Our Road Force Balance machine will additionally simulate a load on top of the tire while it spins. This mimics the tire actually being driven on and accounts for imbalances that you wouldn’t feel until the tires were put back on your vehicle. This makes for a much more accurate balance, and allows for the smoothest ride possible.
The reason we pick equipment like this, is to provide the ultimate experience for you. Did you ever get anxiety just by thinking of getting your new wheels mounted somewhere? Usually if it is fast and cheap, those companies use less care and lower quality equipment. With our machines we are able to provide the safest wheel mount and balance to preserve the quality of both, wheel and tire.
