The wait is over! GoPro released Hero 5 yesterday
Finaly, GoPro released their new camera. We waited long for this one, but yesterday GoPro released Hero 5. They also offer an upgraded version of the Hero Session that was released last year, the GoPro Hero Session 5. In this post I will focus on the two new cameras to show you what has changed and what you can look forward to with those two new options.
Of course I will also introduce the new Karma Drone they released, but first things first.
Lets look at both cameras first.
GoPro Hero 5
The first thing you probably noticed is the big screen on the back, which is actually a touch screen which allows you to preview and play back your shots, change settings and trim your footage, all directly on your GoPro.
They changed the entire design of the GoPro. Everything looks very smooth rather than sharp edges. Besides that the entire camera is waterproof to 33ft (10m) without a housing. They adopted the one button control of the Hero Session from last year which makes it simple to use, especially combined with the waterproof touch screen on the back. Just press it to turn it on and record automatically.
One of the biggest changes that you will not notice just by looking at it is the voice control feature. Now you can have both of your hands occupied with fun stuff and just simply tell your GoPro camera to snap a quick shot. Be the boss of your camera and tell her what to do by simply giving the command.
GoPro Hero 5 Session
Visually it is pretty much like the first Session camera GoPro released last year but upgraded big time. It combines the quality of the GoPro Hero 5 but the compact and easy to use design of the Hero Session.
Enjoy the upgraded 4K video quality as well as 10MP photos in Single, Burst, and Time Lapse modes. Just like the older model, it is operated by a single button to make it easy to use. Since this camera is so compact it allows you to experience new perspectives.
Just like the new Hero 5, the Hero 5 Session is also waterproof to 33ft (10m) without a housing and you can use the voice control feature, which only is implemented in the new Hero 5 cameras. So apologies to all you guys that like to keep their older models, you really should upgrade this time.
What else?
Well, I can definitely bore you all day with specs but instead I give you the option to simply click here to look at a detailed spec sheet on the GoPro homepage. Just scroll all the way to the bottom of their page if you are interested in these kind of details.
Otherwise let me show you what else is new.
Karma
That’s right! Finally GoPro released their drone called Karma. And before we crack some jokes, we are talking about good Karma right here.
First off, it comes with its own lightweight case that you wear just like a backpack comfortably during any activity. GoPro also highly advertises that this drone is easier to fly than other ones, and we all know (at least we, who tried to use a drone before) that this is not one of the easiest tasks.
They also made a GoPro Passenger App available, that lets your friends fly with you. They basically can watch you fly and even control your GoPro.
This package also includes a Karma Grip which combined with the stabilizer allows you to create perfectly smooth videos without the drone. So you are not bound to use the drone all the time and combine footage taken in the air and on the ground.
Just watch this:
