Even though Vossen’s Cast Wheel Line was popular, they wanted to provide a better product for an affordable price and created the Vossen Hybrid Forged Series. Advancing the traditional casting process, the Hybrid Forged Series utilizes flow forming to cut down on weight and increase strength. Flow forming also allows for a great range of wheel widths within each design.
Now you may ask, what is “flow forming”? There are 3 ways to manufacture wheels : Cast, flow formed and forged. You make cast wheels by pouring liquid aluminum into a cast where it cools and hardens. This allows for cheap and fast production but also is not as durable as the other two methods.
You manufacture forged wheels from a solid block of aluminum called “forging”. These will be lathed and milled to create a light and durable wheel. This is the most time consuming and expensive production method of all. Vossen decided to change their Cast Series Designs to Hybrid Forged Series to give their clients an affordable but more lightweight and durable product.
The flow forming process begins with a low-pressure casting. A special machine spins the initial casting and heats the outer portion. Steel rollers press against the wheel barrel area to pull the wheel to its final width and shape. The combination of the heat, pressure and spinning create a wheel with the strength similar to a forged wheel. The video below shows you the flow forming process.

The Vossen Hybrid Forged Series offers a variety of models to choose from with specific chosen fitments for your vehicle. You can choose between a few standard color options and the designs you see in the picture below.
