Tires & alignment · Houston
Tesla tire mounting, Road Force balancing and alignment.
We mount, balance and align tires in our Houston shop on a leverless Corghi tire changer, a Hunter Road Force Elite balancer and a Hofmann geoliner 660 imaging aligner. For you, that means gentler handling of your wheels, a smoother ride and tires that wear evenly.

Our equipment
Three machines, one goal: a smooth, straight ride.
Here is what each machine is, and what it does for you and your car.

Tire changer
Corghi Artiglio 500, leverless
A leverless tire changer. Corghi’s “Leva la leva” head (Italian for “without lever”) lifts the tire bead off the wheel, so no tire iron is pried against your rim.
What it does for you
- Gentler on expensive wheels. Corghi says it works faster “without risks to the operator and the rims, even during the most critical phases.”
- Two bead-breaker discs loosen both sides of the tire with controlled, repeatable movements, and the wheel is clamped just once, with no need to flip it over.
- Made for conventional, low-profile and run-flat tires, including stiff sidewalls, on rims from 12 to 32 inches.
- Built for matching the tire to the wheel when mounting.

Wheel balancer
Hunter Road Force Elite
A wheel balancer that also road-tests each tire. A roller presses on the spinning tire with up to 1,400 lb of force, depending on the tire’s size and stiffness, to see how round it really is under load.
What it does for you
- Finds vibrations a regular balance can miss. A tire and wheel can be perfectly balanced and still shake if they don’t roll round on the road.
- Matches the tire to the wheel. It shows where to turn the tire on the rim so the tire’s high spot lines up with the wheel’s low spot, the kind of matching tire and car makers do at the factory.
- Smarter weights. Its SmartWeight balancing corrects both up-and-down shake and side-to-side shimmy. Hunter says it uses less weight and needs fewer check spins.
- Checks its own work. CenteringCheck confirms the wheel is centered on the balancer, so the reading is right.

Wheel aligner
Hofmann geoliner 660
A camera-based (imaging) aligner. High-definition video-speed cameras read targets clamped to your wheels and monitor the alignment the whole time.
What it does for you
- The cameras instantly flag shop conditions or vehicle issues that could throw off the alignment.
- Its Compensate, Warn and Alert system corrects for wheel imperfections, and if it finds a critical error it shows us how to fix it.
- Built-in Mitchell 1 alignment repair information, and EZ-Toe for hard-to-reach toe adjustments.
- The camera beam follows the car up and down the lift, and its standard clamps fit wheels from 12 to 24 inches.
- Steering angle set with Tesla Toolbox. Tesla requires its Tesla Toolbox service software to set the steering angle after an alignment, and only Tesla Approved shops have Tesla’s training for it. EVS Motors is a Tesla Approved Collision Center.
Why it matters
Teslas are hard on tires.
Weight, instant torque and big wheels ask a lot of your tires. Careful mounting, true balancing and a precise alignment help them last.
Heavy, quick cars
Electric cars are heavy and deliver their torque instantly. Tesla notes that aggressive driving wears tires faster and may need more frequent tire service.
Big wheels, thin tires
Many Teslas ride on large wheels with low-profile tires. The wheels are expensive to refinish or replace, so how a tire goes on and off matters.
Alignment protects your tires
Tesla says proper alignment helps preserve handling, tire life and steering parts, and recommends an alignment after a new set of tires.
Balance you can feel
Tesla notes that unbalanced wheels, often felt as a vibration in the steering wheel, affect handling and tire life. Road Force testing goes a step past a regular balance.
Tesla recommends rotating your tires every 6,250 miles (10,000 km), or sooner if the tread depth differs by 2/32 in. or more. Your owner’s manual has the details for your car.

How a tire job works
- Lift and removeWe lift the car safely and take the wheels off.
- Leverless dismountThe old tires come off on the Corghi, without a tire iron against the rim. We transfer your TPMS sensors if needed.
- Mount and Road Force balanceNew tires go on, then the Hunter road-tests and balances each one and shows us if a tire should be turned on its wheel.
- Reinstall and alignWheels go back on. Add an alignment on the Hofmann and, on a Tesla, we finish by setting the steering angle with Tesla Toolbox.
New wheels too?
We sell and fit Vossen and Brixton Forged wheels, with fitment checked for your car. Browse wheels. Suspension work planned? See suspension and Tesla rear camber arms; an alignment usually follows.
“EVS did a fantastic job of installing my new wheels and tires on my Tesla Model Y. They did such a great job that I had them install new tint and clearbra as well. …”
Questions
Tire and alignment questions.
Will mounting new tires scratch my wheels?
We use a leverless Corghi Artiglio 500, so no tire iron is pried against your wheel. The machine’s head lifts the bead instead, and Corghi designed it to work without risks to the rims.
What is Road Force balancing?
A regular balancer only spins the wheel. Our Hunter Road Force Elite also presses a roller against the tire with up to 1,400 lb of force to measure how round the tire and wheel are under load, and how stiff the tire is. That finds vibrations a regular balance can miss.
My Tesla still vibrates after a balance. Can you fix it?
Often, yes. In Hunter’s tests at 70 mph, 30 lb of Road Force caused as much vibration as 1.5 oz of imbalance, five times the usual 0.30 oz static imbalance limit. Hunter says this kind of vibration can’t be found by traditional balancing. Hunter also notes the balancer can’t detect vibration from worn brakes or drivetrain parts. If the tires and wheels check out, we can diagnose the rest of the car.
Do I need an alignment after new tires?
Tesla recommends one after installing a new set of tires, and whenever a tire wears on one side or the car pulls left or right with the steering wheel straight. A 4-wheel alignment is $285, or $171 for 2 wheels.
Why does my Tesla need a steering angle calibration after an alignment?
Tesla requires its Tesla Toolbox service software to set the steering angle after an alignment, and only Tesla Approved shops have Tesla’s training for it. EVS Motors is a Tesla Approved Collision Center, so we set your Tesla’s steering angle here as the last step of the alignment.
Can you mount low-profile and run-flat tires?
Yes. The Corghi Artiglio 500 is made for conventional, low-profile and run-flat tires, on rims from 12 to 32 inches.
Do you move my TPMS sensors?
Yes. Tire installation includes transferring your TPMS sensors if needed. New valve stems ($3.50 each) come with every tire job unless yours are in good working order.
How much does tire installation cost?
$285 for 4 tires ($71.25 per tire), or $350 for 4 tires over 32″ in diameter. It’s the same price for every vehicle, and tires and wheels are priced separately.
